This year de Chazal Day fell on a Monday so we all took part by raising a glass and drinking a toast to “The de Chazal Family Worldwide”. I mattered not that we were dispersed around the country, the connection was there.
In Guildford Cousins and friends gathered at the home of Christopher and Thelma where we had the traditional curry and rice suitably accompanied by liquid refreshment.
Present were Helen de Chazal (>John>René>Lucie), Marilyn and Mike Fanya (Marilyn>Ninette>Evline>August), Mike and Josiane Cole (no relation but connected through the Harel and possibly Rouillard families) Llyn Gibson from South Africa and Christopher’s sons Toby and Oscar and Toby’s mother-in-law Clemencia.
Two photos attached—please note all the de Chazal Flags and Christopher’s tie with the de Chazal crest, good use was made of our Family tree.
Messages of goodwill were received from many of our UK cousins. We hope this tradition continues where you are.
Cousins not present but whom we hope to see soon are Maurice and Katrina who have come to England permanently from Botswana, Marilyn’s nephew Jason and his wife Laura. Alison (Hylton’s wife) was here temporarily from SA but she did not answer our Emails.
